Sony C660X 'Yuga' 1080p display leaks in a benchmark score

Shortly after we caught a glimpse of the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset tucked in Sony's upcoming C660X 'Yuga' Android powerhouse in Antutu benchmark results, the handset's screen resolution emerged as well. NenaMark2 scores revealed that a 1080p (1920 x 1080 pixels) display will sit on top of the powerful internals.


 


The benchmark score, which has subsequently been removed from the NenaMark2 database, points at a resolution of 1794 x 1080 pixels. The remaining 126 pixels are likely used for the Android on-screen buttons.


There is no information on the physical size of the full HD display. Given the massive amount of pixels involved though, it is highly unlikely that the unit will be sized below 5". A recent announcement from Japan Display Inc. regarding the start of mass production of 5" TFT-LCD IPS display modules with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution and pixel density of 443ppi points in this direction. Sony Mobile Display is involved in the aforementioned company together with Toshiba Mobile Display and Hitachi Displays.

Qualcomm butter benchmark proves Snapdragon S4 is “coolest kid on the block”

It’s no secret that the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 is the processor most sought-after by smartphone makers this year. Qualcomm has managed to cram some impressive performance numbers and LTE connectivity into the 28nm chip, making it one of the most efficient chips on the market.

One added benefit of the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 is the chip’s amazing heat efficiency. In order to show the difference between the heat expelled by the S4 chip and that of its competitors, Qualcomm could have simply taken thermal images of various devices while performing CPU intensive tasks. Instead, Qualcomm took a few sticks of butter and placed them on top of a few phones to see which device melts butter the slowest.

We’re not sure if Qualcomm is playing favorites in its butter benchmark test, but if you have a few spare phones running on different processors, you could easily run the butter benchmark on your own. All you need are at least two phones, a couple ziploc bags to keep your devices safe, and of course, some butter.

Motorola DROID RAZR HD pictures, benchmark score reveal handset details

Fans of Motorola’s DROID RAZR lineup will be excited to hear that the upcoming Motorola DROID RAZR HD is shaping up to be an impressive handset. Over the past few days new details have emerged, confirming that the DROID RAZR HD will feature an 1196 x 720 HD display, Qualcomm’s 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor with an Adreno 225 GPU and a Kevlar back panel similar to its RAZR siblings.
According to DROID-Life, the thickness of the Motorola DROID RAZR HD will be somewhere between that of the original DROID RAZR and the RAZR MAXX, which features a 3,300 mAh battery. The assumption is that Motorola will equip the RAZR HD with a 2,200 – 2,500 mAh battery, giving users at least a full day’s worth of battery life under heavy use.
Those who passed on the DROID RAZR and RAZR MAXX due to performance concerns should be ecstatic to hear that the 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor inside the upcoming DROID RAZR HD more than doubles the 28.1 FPS NenaMark2 scores produced by its predecessors. We may only have one NenaMark2 benchmark score to go on, but at 59.1 FPS the DROID RAZR HD stands in contention with the HTC One X and the Samsung Galaxy S III.

The launch date of the Motorola DROID RAZR HD might not be right around the corner, but speculation is that the phone should show up on Verizon’s 4G network in August.
