New Video Shows How 'Dead Space 3' Works With Kinect

From the looks of it, Visceral Games' Kinect integration into "Dead Space 3" is similar to how Bioware handled the same in "Mass Effect 3." The twist this time around is that the commands you'll be shouting at your TV will focus on the co-op in "Dead Space 3." According to the video, players can quick-call partner healing commands or pathfinding.

Third-party developers are, I think, still trying to figure out what to do for all of those gamers out there with Kinects. The features outlined for "Dead Space 3" are useful inasmuch as we're willing to ignore that they're just an alternate way to deal with existing controller inputs. I think we're all still waiting for the point where one of these titles will figure out ways to have Kinect-specific functions that will do justice to both the games and the hardware.

Google shows off next version of Google TV v3 in new video

We were starting to wonder if Google had forgotten about Google TV, but a new video previews some upcoming features that are coming soon. Google recently announced that Google Play Movies, TV Shows, and Music were now available on Google TV and it appears some bigger changes are on the horizon. Google hasn’t updated their TV Remote app since 2010, but it looks like a new version could be coming soon with voice search built in. We don’t know when this new version will drop, but the official details should be coming soon.

Update: It appears the video went private right as I hit the big publish button. If we find a copy, we will update this post. An announcement might be coming today, so I’d keep my eye on the official Google TV blog.

LG shows us why their Nexus should be so special

Most people seem to be downplaying the LG Nexus because one version of the device will have 8 GB storage and LG sucks at software updates, but we couldn’t be more excited to get our hands on one. It will be the fastest Android phone with one of the best displays, and we still don’t know what other surprises Google has in store. It’s pretty much confirmed that the LG Nexus will be based on the Optimus G, so take a couple minutes to watch this new video that highlights the best features of that device.

'Frankenweenie' Comic-Con Presentation Shows Off Art Behind The Scenes

As part of the Preview Night at San Diego Comic-Con, we headed over to a presentation from the folks with "Frankenweenie" to check out a special exhibition on the floor of the convention center.
Producer Allison Abbate showed us around "The Art of Frankenweenie," a display of some of the actual models and sets used in Tim Burton's latest stop-motion animation movie.

The props on the display were so detailed and intricate that they even looked believable on close inspection. The presentation is open to all fans at San Diego Comic-Con and is something any fan of Burton's films should check out.

comScore shows Android and iOS still gaining market share

The most recent comScore report, which reflects the 3 month period ending in May, has Android and Apple combining for over 80% of the market. Windows Phone also saw a small increase in market share, and now stands at 4%.

Some 234 million people in the US aged 13 and older use mobile devices. Samsung stand at the top of the hill with 25.7% of all phones used being theirs, while Apple saw the biggest increase among the major manufacturers - 1.5 percent points. The Cupertino-based company now controls 15% of the market.

RIM and Symbian continue to lose ground, as the Blackberry manufacturer saw a full 2% decline down to 11.4%, while Symbian now accounts for just over 1.1% of the US market.

Nokia Belle Feature Pack 2 leaked video shows new features

A video of a pre-release Feature Pack 2 for Symbian Belle has leaked. Currently available on Nokia's RDA (Remote Device Access), which only Nokia registered developers have access to, allows for Symbian Belle FP2 to be tried out in an emulator.

As the final Symbian hurrah for Nokia, Feature Pack 2 is expected to bring quite a lot to Symbian Belle. The user interface will see most of the changes with a new swipe to unlock, camera UI, navigation bar, widgets and better transition effects.

As demonstrated on the demo video below, the keyboard is now predictive and offers word completion. Also updated are the web browser, gallery and image editor. The music player will now place its own controls in the notifications bar.

That's just some of the changes coming in Feature Pack 2, some of them you can see in action in the video below.

Currently, there's no established timeframe of the Feature Pack 2's release, but it's certain that the Nokia 808 PureView will be among the first to get it.

Nokia AIR cloud service promo video leaks, shows cool devices

A promo video has leaked showing Nokia Air, the company's own cloud syncing solution.

 

Nokia Air is designed to sync apps, contacts, media across Nokia tablets and smartphones. By the looks of it, Symbian Belle is the OS destined to receive Nokia Air first.

Curiously, the video also showcases a couple of really cool looking devices: a Symbian-running tablet, smartphone and a mini-slider phone. They'll probably continue their lives as concepts, but if Nokia manages to actually deliver Air by the time Nokia World rolls around this Fall, it'll draw a breath of fresh air for Symbian Belle users.
