'The Last of Us' Demo Coming In Late May With Early Access For 'God of War' Fans

 

A Naughty Dog tweet has revealed that their upcoming survival horror (action?) game "The Last of Us" will be available to gamers who pick up a copy of "God of War: Ascension." The demo will be available on May 31 via the main menu of "Ascension."

While the demo will provide early access for "God of War: Ascension" players, no word yet on when it will be available for other PSN users.

I got some hands-on time with "The Last of Us" earlier this year, getting a look at some of the enemies and encounters Naughty Dog has planned for their new title. While the version myself and other journalists played at the time was still in alpha, there was enough interesting creeping and combat to keep "The Last of Us" at the top of my 2013 list of very anticipated games.

Early benchmarks show that Mobile Safari got faster with iOS 6

It's customary for a new mobile OS version to bring an improved web browser and that's one of the first things to get tested. iOS 6 was only announced yesterday ,but the default browser of its beta version was already subjected to a few tests.
AnandTech ran some benchmarks on an iPhone 4S and noticed a notable improvement in speed and extended compatibility with new web technologies (HTML5 and CSS3). The improvement in SunSpider results is pretty impressive and sees the 4S catch up to a Snapdragon S4-packing HTC One X (the AT&T version), for example.
The results also come pretty close to those of the new iPad (which has the same two CPU cores, but a higher clock speed). It's not just JavaScript either, pages reportedly render faster and the overall experience has improved.

Interestingly, the WebKit version remains unchanged from iOS 5.1 and the browser still tells web servers it's running on iOS 5. Another thing that hasn?t changed is the 8 open tabs maximum limit.

Verizon’s Galaxy S III won’t ship until early July?

Verizon may have been first out of the gate with a press release regarding their Galaxy S III, but it looks like a release date is going to be one feature that isn’t shared by all of the US Galaxy S IIIs.

Pre-orders will start tomorrow morning at 7 a.m. Eastern time for the Verizon Galaxy S III and we had been hoping that this meant a launch right around June 21st, lining up with T-Mobile and Sprint’s plans.

Unfortunately it looks like Verizon customers might have to make it through Independence Day without a Galaxy S III by their side as multiple sources are placing Verizon’s launch date in early July with shipping dates varying from July 5th to July 9th.

The guys at Android Community are hearing July 5th, a Thursday, which is Verizon’s preferred day for new device launches.

Droid-Life on the other hand has heard both July 6th and July 9th as possible dates. A Friday or Monday would be a bit unusual for Verizon, but an insider was able to snap the blurriest of blurrycam shots for them which clearly states “Pre-ordered phones will ship by July 9th.” This also leaves open the possibility that the phones would ship July 9th, but not be available in store until July 12th.

Now I wouldn’t take any of these dates as gospel as these things can change rapidly, however Verizon is famous for their delays so it would come as no surprise if they were to launch a few weeks behind everyone else. They might just be using that extra time to get their data plans sorted out.

Samsung Galaxy S III hits Dubai a week early, costs $680

The Samsung Galaxy S III has arrived in Dubai a week earlier than expected and is already on sale for $666.

This has been confirmed by a vigilant Reddit user who noticed an "Available Today" sign under the S III name in a mall store in Dubai. Speaking to an employee he gathered that the store has plenty of Galaxy S III units in stock and all being white variants (no word on which internal storage version it was but we're guessing 16GB).

Other users have also found the phone available (and purchased it) but for around $680. We guess a hefty bunch of people who pre-ordered the Galaxy S III will be less than impressed right about now.

One of the visitors of such a store sent us the pic you see on the left. Unfortunately, the store has already ran out of stock when he got there, but reportedly, more units are on the way, due in the next few days. He confirms the phone was priced at 2500 AED or about US$680.
