Lenovo brings four dual-SIM IdeaPhone droids to CES

The K900 phablet might be hogging the spotlight, but Lenovo has four more Android handsets to show at CES. Details are a bit scarce, but they are all dual-SIM devices and range from an entry-level Gingerbread droid to a 5" Jelly Bean upper mid-ranger.

That upper mid-ranger would be the Lenovo IdeaPhone S890 - it has a 5" qHD (540 x 960) screen with 220ppi pixel density and runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It packs an 8MP camera with flash inside a 9.3mm thick body that weighs 176g.

The IdeaPhone S720 has a smaller 4.5" IPS LCD screen of qHD resolution (245ppi). The phone runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, powered by a dual-core MTK processor. There's an 8MP camera on the back and a 1MP snapper at the front. The S720 has a 2000mAh battery and is 9.9mm thick.

The final two phones are from the entry-level A series - the A800 and A690. The Lenovo IdeaPhone A800 has a 4.5" FWVGA screen (480 x 854, 218ppi) and a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. It runs Android 4.0 ICS and has a 2000mAh battery.

The IdeaPhone A690 sticks to Android 2.3 Gingerbread and a single-core 1GHz processor. Its screen is a 4" WVGA unit.

The five Lenovo IdeaPhone handsets are launching this month in China and will be expanding to other regions soon. Lenovo is mum on when that will be and there's no pricing info yet.

Philips outs the dual-SIM W732 droid, sticks a huge battery inside

Philips has been keeping under the smartphone radar lately, but now it is back with a bang announcing the W732 Droid.

Apparently, the company has heard the prayers of Android fans and their requests for devices with better battery life and that's exactly what the W732 offers. The huge 2,400mAh battery inside is rated to give you 13 hours of continuous talk time or 10.5 hours of web browsing on a single charge.
Sporting a 4.3-inch LCD IPS display with a resolution of 480x800 pixels, the Philips W732 runs Android 4.0 ICS on a 1 GHz single-core MediaTek MT6575 processor and has 1GB of RAM. And with a 5MP camera at the back and Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS on board, this Android might turn out to be a pretty decent entry-level offering.
It measures the acceptable 126.37 x 67.44 x 12.3 mm, but tips the scales at over 166 grams, which can probably be attributed to the ample juice pack. The Philips also features two SIM slots, both of which support hot-swapping.
The Philips W732 will make its debut in China and Russia in the coming weeks and will be available in five colors - black, white, pink, blue and green. Pricing and plans for worldwide availability are yet to be announced.

LG announces dual-SIM version of Optimus L3 for some regions

 

LG has come up with a dual-SIM version of their entry-level L-Style droid, the Optimus L3. It's model number is E405 (the single SIM one is E400).

The Optimus L3 E405 features a new set of keys below the screen. The hardware button is gone - there are four capacitive keys in its place. The first three are the standard Menu, Home and Back keys, while the fourth one toggles the active SIM. The L3 E405 is a single-SIM-standby device.

The other features of the phone are virtually the same - Android 2.3 Gingerbread running on a Qualcomm MSM7225A chipset (Cortex-A5 CPU @ 800MHz, 384MB RAM, Adreno 200 GPU), 3.2" QVGA TFT screen, HSDPA, 3MP camera with VGA video, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0 and 1,540mAh battery.

The LG Optimus L3 E405 will be available in the Ukraine in July, priced around UAH1,500 ($185, ?150). The phone is also available on LG's Russian and Chinese sites, but there's no launch date or pricing for those markets.
