Samsung's 5-inch 1080p screen is now all but confirmed

We've previously covered some juicy rumors that Samsung is working on a 5-inch 1080p screen of its own. Competing manufacturers have already announced plenty of smartphones with such a screen, so the race is in full swing while Samsung is not even the list.

Well, fret not, because Sammy has its sleeves all rolled up, working hard on a 4.99-inch 1080p screen and best of all, it's of the Super AMOLED variety.

A hawk-eyed writer for AnandTech.com spotted this roadmap at Samsung's booth. It clearly shows the company's next generation screen.

The new screen should be available in Q1, 2013. This may as well be the screen for the future Samsung Galaxy SIV or why not even a Note II mini?

Samsung claims its new generation AMOLEDs will use 25% less power and will even have a new low-power mode. Well, we guess we'll know more when we know more.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean confirmed in the Google Play Store

Rather unintentionally, Google has just let the name of the next Android release slip. As expected, it's going to be called Jelly Bean and will carry the 4.1 version number.

The leaked information can currently be seen on the US Play Store when purchasing a Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ smartphone described as "soon the first phone with Android 4.1 Jell..." You get the idea.

Additionally, there's also an image showing just a bite of the visual changes present in Jelly Bean. That's a new wallpaper and a visually refreshed Google search bar on the homescreen. The picture is of low resolution, but still the changes are somewhat visible.

This further confirms that Jelly Bean will be a minor update to Ice Cream Sandwich and we should expect Key Lime Pie to be Android 5.0 and probably launch with a new Nexus smartphone in the winter? There's no doubt then that Google will show Jelly Bean in action at the Google I/O Conference on June 27.

Confirmed: ASUS Nexus 7 tablet coming at the end of June

In case you were still skeptical about the Nexus Tablet making its appearance at Google I/O this month, yet another rumored ASUS source has confirmed the imminent launch of the oft-fabled tablet. An ASUS rep at Computex told Android Authority will indeed make its debut appearance at Google I/O at the end of the month.

Our own sources told us back in March that ASUS was selected as the manufacturing partner for the Nexus Tablet, and that the tablet would include the powerful Tegra 3 processor. We also learned from sources that the target pricing for the Nexus Tablet was $149-$199, with Google aiming to bring the Nexus Tablet into as many pockets as possible. With production rumored at about 600,000 tablets produced by the end of June, it became fairly obvious that Google’s I/O developer conference was going to be showcasing the device.

Rejoice, Android fans, Google’s Nexus Tablet is real, will be made by ASUS, and will be unveiled at the end of June at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

Galaxy S III AT&T and T-Mobile US versions confirmed

Bluetooth SIG approval pages have confirmed the existence and model numbers of the AT&T and T-Mobile US versions of the Samsung Galaxy S III.
The AT&T model number is SGH-I747 and should be based on the Snapdragon S4 chipset with a dual-core Krait CPU instead of the Cortex-A9 found on the international version. The reason for the switch is once again the lack of native LTE support on the Exynos 4 Quad.

Samsung Galaxy S III US-bound models
The T-Mobile-bound Galaxy S III version will be called SGH-T999, but it's unclear what chipset will reside inside its body.
Never mind the photos, both devices will look different from the international version for sure and will almost certainly replace the one-regular-and-two touch-buttons combo with four capacitive keys. There's also a good chance that one (or even both) of them will have 2GB RAM as the Japanese version.
The US release of the Galaxy S III is coming next month, so we should know more about the two devices soon.
