Lenovo brings four dual-SIM IdeaPhone droids to CES

The K900 phablet might be hogging the spotlight, but Lenovo has four more Android handsets to show at CES. Details are a bit scarce, but they are all dual-SIM devices and range from an entry-level Gingerbread droid to a 5" Jelly Bean upper mid-ranger.

That upper mid-ranger would be the Lenovo IdeaPhone S890 - it has a 5" qHD (540 x 960) screen with 220ppi pixel density and runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It packs an 8MP camera with flash inside a 9.3mm thick body that weighs 176g.

The IdeaPhone S720 has a smaller 4.5" IPS LCD screen of qHD resolution (245ppi). The phone runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, powered by a dual-core MTK processor. There's an 8MP camera on the back and a 1MP snapper at the front. The S720 has a 2000mAh battery and is 9.9mm thick.

The final two phones are from the entry-level A series - the A800 and A690. The Lenovo IdeaPhone A800 has a 4.5" FWVGA screen (480 x 854, 218ppi) and a 1.2GHz dual-core processor. It runs Android 4.0 ICS and has a 2000mAh battery.

The IdeaPhone A690 sticks to Android 2.3 Gingerbread and a single-core 1GHz processor. Its screen is a 4" WVGA unit.

T-Mobile US refreshes myTouch and myTouch Q droids

T-Mobile US will launch new versions of the widely popular myTouch and myTouch Q smartphones.
Both devices feature similar specs, except the myTouch Q adds a sliding four-row QWERTY keyboard.
The new generation T-Mobile myTouch and myTouch Q are manufactured by Huawei and pack 4-inch WVGA TFT displays, 1.4GHz single-core processors, 5 megapixel snappers with HD video recording, secondary video-call cameras and the usual connectivity packages (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HSPA+).
The myTouch and myTouch Q are running on the outdated Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS with the familiar T-Mobile myTouch UI on top of it.
The phones will hit the T-Mobile US network on August 8 and will cost $50 (after $50 mail in-rebate) with a two-year contract.

Huawei unveils Ascend P1 TD- SCDMA and 2600mAh XL droids

Huawei used the start of the Mobile Asia Expo to announce the two latest additions to its lineup of Android smartphones. The Huawei Ascend P1 TD-SCDMA and Ascend P1 2600mAh are modified versions of the international P1 heading for China with a different 3G radio and a larger battery.

As the name suggests, the Huawei Ascend P1 TD-SCDMA swaps the WCDMA connectivity for the TD-SCDMA 3G radio, which is better suited to the third generation networks in China. The smartphone will go on sale in China by the end of June.

The Huawei Ascend P1 2600 mAh XL (or simply Ascend P1 XL) slaps a huge battery to the slender figure of the P1. Huawei chose not to reveal the dimensions of the new smartphone, but we guess the extra capacity added a millimeter or two. We guess we'll have to wait until Q3 when the Ascend P1 XL will be available for sale in China to find out.

Huawei also confirmed that it will be launching the Ascend D1 in China in the near future, with other markets to follow shortly after. The market release of the quad-core Ascend D quad is only said to happen in the second half of the year though. We are still in the dark regarding the availability of the quad-core MediPad 10 FHD tablet with 1080p screen, which will also be exhibited at the Mobile Asia Expo.

Sony Xperia tipo and tipo dual are entry-level ICS droids

Sony surprised everyone when they announced the Xperia miro and the surprises keep coming - the company also announced the entry-level ICS droids called Sony Xperia tipo and tipo dual. What's unique about the Xperia tipo dual is that it's the company's first dual-SIM device.

The Xperia tipo is a compact phone (103 x 57 x 13 mm, 99.4g) and features a 3.2" HVGA TFT screen with scratch-resistant mineral glass. It will run Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich at launch, and is powered by an 800MHz processor (Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7225AA chipset).

The phone has the essentials - a 3.2MP camera, 2.9GB of built-in memory (expandable by a microSD card), 3.5mm audio jack, microUSB port and a 1500mAh battery. On the connectivity side, there's HSPA-enabled 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS.

The Sony Xperia tipo will be available in a dual-SIM version too - called Xperia tipo dual. Both cards will not be active at the same time - it's not a dual standby deal. Instead, a special button on the side of the tipo dual would allow you to toggle the currently active SIM.
